We need people right away who love Pan.a.ce.a and are willing to volunteer their time and talents to help spread the word about this great band. If your time is very limited, skip down to the list of individual jobs. If you are good at organizing, planning and coordinating people and activities, and you have some time available, you might consider a leadership position.
If you don't have experience, that's OK. You just need the time and ability - management will guide you through everything. Actually, you will be dealing with the manager a lot since it's his job to oversee all promotional and marketing aspects for the band. This is a good chance to learn more about the business, or just be a part of this exciting time for Pan.a.ce.a.
Pre-show promotion coordinator - Several weeks before each show or other appearance, make sure that local and regional press are aware of the event and help facilitate articles, reviews and concert listings. Identify the radio stations in the area that we might be able to work with to promote the show and help facilitate getting airplay and setting up interviews. Make sure that posters are sent out ahead of time.
At-show promotion coordinator - For each event, schedule a merch person and someone to do promotion (get mailing list sign-ups, hand out schedule cards and 8x10s, etc.). Make sure that schedule cards are up to date. Monitor supplies - promotional and merch - so we know when to get more.
Content Manager - This individual coordinates our web presence, making sure that the content posted everywhere is consistent and correct, that the band is utilizing all of the available tools that are on the Internet and appropriate for Pan.a.ce.a., that updates are made on a regular basis, etc. We still need to establish profiles on a bunch of music and social networking sites, and we need to have our music playing on all those indie artist sites that the major radio stations have set up. Also there's a lot of research regarding blogs, podcasts and Internet radio - coordinating the promotion and monitoring feedback. They need to alert management and the street team when comments or ratings are needed (like rating the CD at Amazon), and make sure that Pan.a.ce.a comes up first in Google searches while working to fix any other search problems. This is actually a pretty big job, so some of this work may go to an outside promoter, and/or this position may be partially compensated.
Individual Tasks
These jobs will be coordinated by the team leaders above. By dividing up the work like this, most anyone who wants to help out can, even if they have limited time. Just pick the task(s) that interests you the most. BTW, any expenses (postage, supplies, copies) will be covered by the band.
Send posters to clubs, record stores, wherever needed.
Create schedule cards to hand
out at live shows and other events - keep updated and make copies as
needed. (Another great suggestion from the survey we recently
conducted.)
Help with bookings - research
(and sometimes contacting) clubs and colleges, keep up on national acts
coming through the area that would be good for Pan.a.ce.a to open for,
etc.
Wikipedia - Create and maintain a Wikipedia page for the band.
Keep local concert calendars updated - local papers & websites, some fan websites.
General Internet posting - rate the CD, post info on blogs
Viral marketing - get fans of the band to spread the word to all of their friends on MySpace, Facebook, etc., encourage re-tweets on Twitter when something exciting happens, tell fans of other similar bands about Pan.a.ce.a, etc.
Email list - type in verify email addresses from sign-ups at shows.
Assist the content manager with Internet activities, like posting to blogs, rating the CD, forcing the search engines to bring panacearock.com up better or higher whenever people are searching for the band, etc. Basically the Content Manager has a big job, so any help with the web stuff he/she is in charge of would be great.
